I’ve signed the contract. I’ve got my outfit ready. My haircut is booked. Even my nails are neatly trimmed. With less than two weeks to go, preparations for Retail Risk – London are in full swing, and I’m making sure I look my best.
If you’re attending, you’ll probably spot me on the stand in my hi-vis jacket or patrolling the hall, so be sure to say hello… maybe even reward me with a well-earned ear scratch or a belly tickle… Ha! You didn’t think this was James writing, did you!?!
It’s me, Esme! Although, with all the meticulous grooming, you’d be forgiven for the mix-up. With the level of effort going into my appearance, you’d think I was prepping for Crufts! And honestly? With the competition I’ve seen this year, I’m sure I could give those other pooches a run for their money! Then again, it’s important to make a good first impression. Not that I need to try too hard – I have a natural talent for getting my way. Just ask James…
Every time we go on a walk, I insist on crossing into the farmer’s field. He holds his ground for a moment, but I know how this ends. A little persistence, a well-timed sit-down protest, and eventually, victory.
There’s a stream I love to cross into a farmer’s field, but James isn’t always on board. So, I sit. I pull. I refuse to budge until he finally gives in (he always gives in). Puppy dog eyes go a long way, and as soon we’re on the route I want I’m happy as can be.
Who’s really the boss here, James!?!
But stubbornness aside, I take my job seriously. Dogs are a great judge of character, and I’ve got a keen eye (and nose) for spotting trouble…
Some people are just off. Like the ones in balaclavas – I always make sure to let everyone know when I spot them!
I also dedicate a lot of time to chasing squirrels and pheasants, and now that it’s rabbit season, I’m on full patrol. It’s a full-time job making sure wildlife aren’t up to anything they shouldn’t be. I should be allowed in retail stores – I’d be brilliant at catching shoplifters!
Anyway… I’ll be holding down the fort in London, tail wagging and keeping the Advantage One team in check, as always. So make sure you stop by our stand. I know James is keen to chat about how we can help to reduce incidents of shoplifting in-store. And, of course, you’ll also get to meet the “real brains” behind the operation… ME!
That’s it for today. I’ve got a nap to take, before more rabbits to chase and a human to boss around. But if you want more tail-wagging updates, head over to James’ LinkedIn page to see me in action.
I hope to see you in London!
